Unit 20 - Planning & Running a Sports Event - 10credits
Planning and running a sports event can be a challenging and rewarding process. For the event to be a success, thorough planninjg, organisational and communication skills are needed as well as the ability to work as a member of a team.
In this unit you will participate in the planning and organisation of a small-scale, one off sports event. You will then contribute to the running of the event and afterwards will undertake a review to see if it has been a success in relation to your original plans, aims and objectives.
Choosing a sports event to deliver will be an exciting part of the planning process. You will need to give a lot of thought to make sure that the event you have decided to run meets the needs of the participants or customers.
Having an awareness of how to plan and organise a sports event, and gaining experience of implementing an event, will help you to develop valuable skills for potential future employment in the leisure and recreation industry.
