Unit 2 - Practical Sport - (10 Credits)
Sport is an important leisure pursuit in the UK and participation levels are increasing. Because of the physical and mental health benefits the government istrying to develop the amount of sport and physical activity we participate in. This means that there are more options available regarding what sports we can play and where we can play them. At school, children are veing introduced to more sports because there is more government funding to vary the curriculum in an attempt to get more children interested in participating in sport and physical activity.
Through completing this unit you will gian more knowledge about team and individual sports and through developing your knowledge it is hoped that your own performance in sports will develop. This unit will provide you with an opportunity to play sports and learn about the application of skills, techniques, tactics and rules and regulations. In this unit you will learn how to analyse the performance of sports performers from team and individual sports and develop an understanding of how and why this analysis is important in developing individuals and helping teams to succeed.

- be able to demonstrate a range of skills, techniques and tactics in selected sports
- know the rules, regulations and scoring systems of selected sports
- know the roles and responsibilities of officials in selected sports
- be able to review sports performance
How you will be assessed
This unit will be assessed by an internal assignment that will be designed and marked by Mr. Whitney. Your assessment could be in the form of:
- video recordings of you applying the appropriate skills, techniques and tactics for a selected team and individual sport
- practical log books with recording of your achievements and developments in each sessions
- observation records of your performance as a sports performer in team and individual sports
- video recordings of applying the rules and regulatoins from one team and one individual sport
- written summaries of the rules, regulations and scoring systems for one team and one individual sport
- observation record sheets
- oral interviews
